Abstract

Modern sports medicine is increasingly embracing the biopsychosocial framework to move beyond purely structural paradigms of injury prevention and performance enhancement. While traditional interventions such as Myofascial Release (MFR) and targeted neuromuscular exercises are heavily documented for their physiological and biomechanical benefits, their concurrent application with cognitive conditioning modalities remains under-explored. Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) represents an advanced cognitive-linguistic framework focused on behavior modification, goal-setting, and somatic anchoring. This literature review evaluates the physiological mechanisms of MFR and targeted exercises alongside the neurological and psychological mechanisms of NLP. By bridging manual tissue manipulation, kinetic chain optimization, and neuro-cognitive motor programming, this paper establishes a novel, integrated performance-optimization framework designed to lower central nervous system threat appraisal, optimize motor unit recruitment, and maximize athletic performance.
