Abstract

Green energy plays a vital role in achieving sustainable development by providing clean, renewable, and environmentally friendly alternatives to fossil fuels. This paper examines the concept, types, importance, applications, and future prospects of green energy, with special emphasis on India’s renewable energy sector. Major sources such as solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, biomass, and green hydrogen are discussed along with their environmental, economic, and social benefits. The study highlights India's remarkable progress in renewable energy through government initiatives, policy support, advancements, and ambitious targets for expanding clean energy capacity. It also explores challenges related to grid integration, financing, land acquisition, and workforce development. The paper concludes that green energy is essential for reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy security, creating employment opportunities, and supporting India's transition towards a sustainable and low-carbon economy.
